With roaring engines, blood-soaked roads, and more dangerous zombies than ever before, Zombie Derby 2 is a game that throws you straight into the action. Looking at the game, we expected it to be reminiscent of fun and challenging games like Trials HD. The zombie theme makes the game even more compelling.

At the beginning of the game, players drive a car on a 2.5D track and start running over zombies they encounter. Smaller zombies won’t damage your car much, but larger zombies can stop your car if you haven’t adjusted your speed. Each zombie you kill earns you points and money. Bonuses are also given for killing multiple zombies in a row or running them over at high speed.

There are many dangers on the road, not just zombies.

The game features not only enemies but also various obstacles. Wooden boxes, barrels, ramps, mines, and mini-bosses make the path more challenging. Some areas also include looping courses, making maintaining the correct speed crucial.

Players are offered a variety of weapons and upgrades. Items like machine guns, nitro boosts, and snowplows can be purchased and upgraded from the garage. Machine guns help eliminate larger zombies, while nitro gives the vehicle increased speed to overcome challenging jumps.

However, the game doesn’t offer as much fun as Trials HD.

While the game involves jumping and acrobatic movements, it doesn’t offer the exciting physics-based challenge that Trials HD provides. The levels are quite simple and can become repetitive after a while. Players mostly focus on conserving fuel and covering as much distance as possible.

This becomes the game’s biggest problem. While players want fun acrobatic stunts and fast-paced action, the game constantly focuses on resource management. Stockpile fuel, buy upgrades, and then do it all again.

The upgrade system is a bit annoying.

The cars, trucks, and other vehicles in the game can be upgraded, but each vehicle has its limits. Once a vehicle starts to feel too good, players need to switch to a new one. This prevents it from ever feeling like a fully-fledged game.

The game also includes several optional levels offering fun tasks like pumpkin cracking or gift delivery. However, the problem is that these levels require older tools, which ultimately causes them to lose some of their appeal.

The first Zombie Derby game also had this repetitive nature, but it feels more intense here. Players die repeatedly, accumulate money, and then buy upgrades. However, the fun part comes later, which makes the game boring at times.

Despite these shortcomings, Zombie Derby 2 offers unparalleled enjoyment. Blasting zombies at high speed, jumping off ramps, and crushing enemies is incredibly satisfying. Players gradually learn the rhythm of the game: where to accelerate, where to shoot, and where to conserve fuel.

Should you play Zombie Derby 2?

Zombie Derby 2 attempts to address the problems of the first game, but in many cases, it merely reworks them. Nevertheless, if you enjoy fast-paced zombie action and light physics-based gameplay, this game will provide you with a few hours of good entertainment.
